Apple Leads the Way

Apple announced in February 2015 that they would build the world's largest data centre in Viborg. The data centre is a so-called hyper-scale data centre of more than 160,000 m2 with a power consumption equivalent to almost 250,000 households. Apple's choice of Viborg has since paved the way for several large data centres in Denmark, such as Facebook and Google. Denmark is thus one of the leading countries in the world with large data centres.

Specialised Labour Market

The many large data centres in Denmark generate a significant need for skilled labour. This applies to both skilled and highly trained specialists who can ensure daily operations, but also support the development of technical solutions both in operation and construction.

As a result of Apple's location in Viborg, Business Viborg has established the trade and interest organisation DDI — Danish Datacentre Industry. DDI brings together the interests of municipalities, utilities and the private players in the data centre industry and works to obtain more data centre investments for Denmark.
